As we grew up in joyful youth,
We came to be as one.
Our "One for all, and all for one,"
Sang out till day was done.
In time we went our separate ways,
Alone and very scared.
But life went on and we forgot
The love that we once shared.
We watched the weeks creep into months,
The months crept into years.
And one by one, we lost our friends,
Like slowly rolling tears.
And now that we approach our fate,
We think to days of old.
When we, immortals, roamed the earth
Before the winds grew cold.
Masquerade
Painted faces toward the world,
Hiding naked, and unfurled.
Wearing masks to keep your face,
Drop your guard and lose your place.
Can they see you're torn apart?
Dying soul, and crying heart?
People, people, can't you tell?
This one here is but a shell.
Masquerading with a smile,
Laughing, dancing all the while.
Let your inhibitions go.
You must let your true self show.
All your pain, you must release.
Only then can you find peace.
I Would Like...
I would like to love, and be loved, and know my beloved awaits. I would not want two women, or five women, or a hundred women, But just the one. The one that ever so sweetly haunts my dreams. I would like to hold her, and let time, and the world, slip away. I would like to be her Romeo, her Casanova, her Don Juan De Marco. And I would sweep her off her feet, and into my arms. Just like the movies. I would like to show her what's in my heart. And give her what's in my soul. And take her into my dreams, so that we could live, and love, forever. I would like love.
I'm not a comedian. Life is the comedian. I'm just the punchline!
